L-Threonine

Nutritional balance in practice


L-Threonine is the necessary complement of L-Lysine for which it optimizes the use by animals for body protein deposition and weight gain. Moreover, L-Threonine plays an important role in processes of maintenance and, more particularly of digestion. In practice, L-Threonine is the second limiting amino acid in feed for pigs and the third limiting amino acid in feed for poultry.

Since 1987, Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition Europe has produced and sold L-Threonine. The main characteristics of the product are described below:

L-Threonine, which is technically pure (L-Threonine 98.5% Feed Grade) comes under Regulation (CE) 1831/2003 of 22/09/2003 relating to additives which are intended for animal feed (Official Journal of the EU n°L 268 of 18/10/2003), category: “nutritional additives”, additive group: “amino acids, their salts and analogous products” and can be used for all animal species
